WELLINGTON DEFEATED
Taranaki Pack Outstanding
(N.Z. Press Association) HAWERA, July 18
Taranaki’s forwards played the gime of their lives to rnaste v the Wellington pack and pave the way for a comfortable win by 12-8 in a representative Rugby match at Hawera today. The match was full of bright attacking movements, although the handling of the Wellington backs was frequently astray Taranaki's forwards may have been responsible for Wellington’s lapse and the pressure on the team was never relaxed Taranqki had 12 kicks at goai —eight penalties and four conversions—but all went astray. N. Mac Ewan was kept under control in the line-outs and while B T Frederickson was most dangerous of the Wellington backs the ball seldom travelled along the line Taranaki’s outstanding back was the centre. K P. Hurley who made several slashing runs D. J. Mathieson. W. R. Coles B. Odowda. and R. H. Brown scored tries for Taranaki, while T. R Heeps scored a try for Wellington and M. Williment kicked a conversion and penalty’ goal.
