WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME

Two Officials Visit NX (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 10. Two officials of the World Food Itoogramme will be in WeMrngtton tomoirrow and Thursday in the course df a v/orl-d tour. Part of their visit will be devoted to outlizung the programme which is aimed at finding means of distributing su-rpi-us foodstuffs to food deficient countries. The officials are Dr, A. H, Boerma, executive director; of the programme, and U Thet Su, deputy director. The United Nations and the Food and Agriculture Organisation were jointly responsible for establishing the programme, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said. "New Zealand hns taken an active interest and is a member of the inter-govern-mental committee charged with the task of guiding the operation." he said. “The programme will require donations amounting to about 100 million dollars in commodities and cash during its initial three-year period."
