Appointment In Samoa

(N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU. June 27. A Timaru barrister and solicitor, Mr R. S. Frapwell, has been appointed AttorneyGeneral of Western Samoa, which became an independent state on January 1 this year He will leave New Zealand early in August. Mr Frapwell, who has practised in Timaru since 1948, ha s been district coroner for the last two years.

McMurdo station in the Antarctic has been enjoying reasonable winter weather According to a message received at the United States Antarctic headquarters at Harewood yesterday, the station has had only 3.5 in of snow since the ice-breaker. Eastwind, left the Sound on April 4. March was the coldest and windiest month. June was unusual. The highest temperature was plus 18 degrees and the lowest minus 37.
