Legacies Under Two Wills
Substantial bequests to a number of charities are made in the will of Percy Louis Orr, a company secretary, of Christchurch, who died on May 19 leaving an estate sw’orn at under £34,000. Probate was granted in the Supreme Court yesterday. After private bequests totalling £12,750, and a legacy of £250 to the Edgeware Bowling Club, the remainder of the estate is divided into 20 equal parts. Three parts will go to the Christchurch Presbyterian Social Service Association for its children’s homes and a further three parts for its homes for the aged. Three parts each go to the Methodist General Purposes Trust Board for the orphanages under its control, and to the Social Service Council of the Diocese of Christchurch for its children’s homes. Two parts each go to the Young Men's Christian Association and the Young Women’s Christian Association. The remaining four parts are divided equally between the Canterbury - Westland branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society and the Berwick Street Presbyterian Church. Charitable bequests are also made in the will of Victor James McKibbin, a company managing director, of Christchurch, who died on June 4 leaving an estate sworn at under £llO,OOO. Probate of hi s will was also granted in the Supreme Court yesterday. He leaves £5OO to St. Augustine's Church of England, Cashmere Hills, and £5OO to the Cashmere Masonic Lodge.
