NGAURANGA DISPUTE

Trades Council Approached (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. June 26. After six hours of negotiations between workers at the Ngauranga Freezing Works and the management today it was decided to place a dispute involving the dismissal of the branch union secretary, Mr F. B. Thom, in the hands of the Wellington Trades Council. Representatives of the drivers, carpenters, metal workers, engineers and electricians and kindred unions attended the meeting. The Trades Council has) now accepted the dispute and a meeting of the workers involved will be held tomorrow morning. The secretary of the union. Mr T. F. Collerton, said tonight that the management had agreed to reinstate Mr Thorn but the terms were unacceptable to the meeting. He said it was not expected that the president of the Trades Council (Mr F. P. Walsh) would be available to handle the dispute before tomorrow afternoon at the earliest.
