June 25 Marlborough provided unexpectedly strong opposition for the touring Auckland Rugby team at Lanslewne Park toda> Auckland won 19-3 after leading 3-0 at half-time. Only in the last quarter of an hour in the second spell did Auckland gain the ascendancy. In this time it scored 13 points Tries for Auckland were scored by M. Dick (2i. M. A. Herew’im. A Pryor and A Edgar B Williams converted two tries Marlborough's points came from a penalty goal by K Marfell.
