T.E.A.L. AND N.A.C.
Co-ordination Move Tasman Empire Airways. Ltd. passenger and freight traffic in Christchurch is now being handled by the National Airways Corporation. The co-ordination of services, which came into operation on Wednesday, follows a measure of integra-
tion in Wellington where T.E.A.L.’s passengers are handled by N.A.C. at Rongotai.
The co-ordination of services will continue from the N.A.C. air centre in Gloucester street while alterations are made to T.E.A.L.’s office in Cathedral square. This renovation will begin at the week-end and will last about sight weeks. The Christchurch branch manager of N.A.C. (Mr J. E. Davies) said he understood he handling of T.E.A.L. passengers from the N.A.C. air :entre could probably con-
inue on a permanent basis, rhe co-ordination of freight services, he said, was a permanent arrangement.
For the next 10 days the wo airlines will jointly handle freight. From July 1 N.A.C. will handle it under contract to T.EA.L. Mr Davies said T.E.A.L.’s freight staff would be given an opportunity to transfer to N.A.C. If they did not wish to they would be absorbed within the T.E.A.L. organisation.
The co-ordination of services between the two airlines will also apply to Qantas, whose business—except bookings—has been handled by T.E.A.L. Airport buses used by the three airlines will operate to and from the N.A.C. passenger terminal, where overseas baggage will also be accepted. Documentation of inter T national passengers will be done by T.E_A.L. at the airport.
During alterations of T.E.A.L.’s office inquiries can be made at the ground floor. Bookings will be handled on the first floor.
