WASH RACK FOR U.S. PLANES

Plans for a concrete wash rack for United States aircraft at the Christchurch airport are in the hands of th* Government and the United States authorities. The wash is required for use by United States aircraft in August, and to obviate delay in starting work after tenders close, the City Council has authorised the chairman of the airport committee (Cr. A. R. Guthrey) to accept a tender.

The work is to be financed jointly by the United States Navy (one-third), the United States Air Force (one-third), the Civil Aviation Administration (one-sixth), and th* City Council (one-sixth).
