Council Proposes No Change

A rate levy of Id in the £ will yield £17.362 for works in the Hatewell county this year. The proposed levy is the same as last year’s. Notice of motion that this rate be levied was given by the chairman (Mr H. Gox) when the Halswell County Council met yesterday. The council proposes to stiend £23.800 on roads in the 1962-63 financial year. An estimate of proposed expenditure, totalling £45.360 was approved. The expenditure includes £5500 for administration, £7650 for plant renewal and maintenance. £2500 for water supply, and £3750 for miscellaneous works.

Estimated receipts were £27.998. the County Clerk (Mrs R Ballintine) said. This included £10.200 , National Roads Board subsidy, £3OOO for water connexion fees and charges. and £6248 for licence and permit fees. To get the £17.362 extra a general rate of jd in the £ was needed. Mrs Ballintine said. This was based on a rateable value of £4.761,975 in the county.
