(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 20. World prices for crayfish were such that he had been offered 10s per lb overseas for criyflsh, said Mr C. G Skeggs before the Parliamentary Select Committee on the fishing industry today. The suggestion that the New Zealand market should be satisfied before overseas exports were permitted was absurd tn the face of such prices coupled with New Zea. land's jeopardised export markets for other primary production, Mr Skeggs said “Let us accept that if the New Zealand consumer is Imwilling to pay world prices for crayfish then crayfish is a luxury which the New Zealand consumer cannot afford.”
