COOK STRAIT CABLE
No Change In Plans
(.V.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, June 13. Recent proof of natural gas from the Kapuni bores would in no way affect the decision to proceed with the Cook Strait power cable, the Minister of Works and Electricity (Mr Goosman) said in Dunedin last night. Considerable time would pass before use of the gas would affect the use of electricity, and. in the meantime, the power demand would continue to grow. It was not intended to use the gas to generate electricity, because of the loss involved. | Used in its present form, the gas gave 85 per cent, efficiency, but converted to electrical energy, the yield fe>Ll to 25 per cent.
