CONFERENCE OF W.D.F.F.

North Canterbury Delegates

The Canterbury provincial representatives at the Dominion conference of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers to be held in Christchurch from June 26 to 29, will include the provincial president (Mrs O. A. Wells), the vice-president (Mrs V. Giles) and the

housekeeper-secretary (Mrs R. O. Bowman). This was announced at the June meeting of the Canterbury North provincial executive of the W.D.F.F.

In addition to the representatives of 14 branches attending the conference, there will be a number of observers from the province. This will be the first W.D.F.F. conference to be held in the city for 12 years. The housekeeper-secre-tary’s report presented at the meeting said that only one engagement had been filled by the division’s permanent housekeeper during the last month.

Reporting on behalf of the group’s building fund committee, Miss J. Smith said that its members representing both the North Canterbury branch of Federated Farmers and the local Women’s Divisions had recently discussed the possible purchase of a building in Christchurch.

Congrartulatione on her appointment as editor of the “New Zealand Countrywomen,” the official publication of the W.D.F.F.. were extended to Mrs M. Frizzel the branch’s press representative by the president (Mrs O. A. Wells).

At vote of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mrs J. E. Hornell, a foundation member and for several years a housekeeper-advisory member of the division’s Cust-West Eyreton branch, was passed.
