CARAVAN CLUB BALL
350 Guests Attend
Coloured cartoons of the lighter side of caravan rallies were placed at prominent points round the Winter Garden for the annual ball of the Automobile Association (Canterbury) Caravan Club, last evening. The 350 guests were received by the president of the club, Mr B. T. Cocks, and Mrs Cocks. They included the patron of the club. Mr J. W. Thomas and Mrs Thomas, the vice-president of the Automobile Association (Canter, bury) (Mr G. W. Tench) and Mrs Tench, the general secretary of the association (Mr E. S. Palliser) and Mrs Palliser, and representatives of the Automobile Association (South Canterbury). A gown of floral brocade on a bright blue satin background was worn by Mrs Thomas, while Mrs Tench chose a floor-length gown of black nylon embossed with silver. A gown of heavy limegreen satin patterned with pink roses was worn by Mrs Cocks. Unpressed pleats fell from the bodice, which featured double bootlace straps of pink velvet on a square neckline. Members of the ball committee were Messrs W. E. Mappleteck (convener), R. L. Flewellen (M.C.), W. H. Thomas (secretary), G. F. Moonlight, D. C. Fox and W. Wright.
