TRUCKS WITHOUT TAIL-LIGHTS
Many Tickets Issued
Many traffic-offence notices had been issued to the drivers of flat-topped trucks parked at night with no taillights. said the traffic superintendent of the Christchurch
.City Council (Mir J. F. Thomas) yesterday. Many drivers did not seem to know that the regulations made a tail-light mandatory, he said. Every heavy goods service vehicle, or one fitted with a flat-top or deck, must at all times when on the road at night show a red light visible at 300 ft.
The regulations provided that the light had to be within 6in of the rear of the vehicle and within 12in of the right side of the deck. Mr Thomas said that, unlighted vehicles on the side of the road constituted a danger to cyclists, and could result in serious injury.
