Skeet Shooting TELEGRAPH SHOOT
20 Teams From N.Z. (hJI. Press Association) DUNIBIN. June 7. New Zealand has responded excellently to an invitation from the Lordship skeet committee. Connecticut, by entering 20 teams ih the 1962 international telegraphic flve-man team skeet shoot. This committee, which is affiliated to the National Skeet Shooting Association of America. to which the New Zealand Gun Clubs' Association is also affiliated, has been conduc* "" this annual fixture since 1931. but New Zealand competed in this match last year for the first time. The entry of nine teams from New Zealand last year created a great deal of interest and favourMjle comment in the United "States. Although no major awards came to *the Dominion last vear. a t«tm representing the Gisborne district won a minor section prize. One of New Zealand's leading shot*. J. McKenzie (Seaward Downs), a member of the Southland team produced the perfect individual score of 100 targets, a performance that was equalled by only a few leading American shooters.
In this telegraphic match the teams will be Auckland (2) Hamilton. Rotorua. Gisborne (2) Hawke's Bay, South Walrarapa, Hutt Valley. Canterbury (<), South Canterbury, Otago (3) and Southland (3). Each New Zealand team has to compete between June 2 and 11 to enable the scores to be sent to the United State*, where the results wdll be announced after the Great Easter Skeet Championships at Bridgeport. Connecticut, on June 17.
Pions For Motor Race.— A body to organise and conduct a Grand Prix motor race at Mount Maunganui during the Christmas-New Year period was formed at a meeting of car club representatives at Mount Maunganui. December 29 has been selected as the date for the inaugural race.—(P_A.)
