SHEARING PARTY
Prize Trip To Australia (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. June 7. A party of 16 shearers and wool-handlers left by air for Sydney this afternoon. They will be away a week visiting the Sydney sheep rhotF and holidaying at Surfers Paradise, Queensland. The trip is the prize in a national shearing and woolhandling teams contest, sponsored by the New Zealand Wool Board. With the cooperation of Federated Farmers and Young Farmers, provincial contests were held early in the year and finals held at Masterton and Christchurch. There were two sections: open and Y.F.C. The four winning teams are: Gisborne, led by Mrs Whore Edwards (the only woman in the party); Wanganui Y.F.C., led by Mr P. Coleman; Southland. Mr J. Barclay: Christchurch Y.FC.. Mr E. Buxton. The manager of the party is the board’s field director, Mr W G. Bowen.
