WELLINGTON, June 1. A leader of the Maori people, Mr A. T. Carroll, has been created a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire, and a leading businessman in the film industry, Mr R. J. Kerridge, has been created a Knight Bachelor in the Queen s Birthday honours list announced by the Governor-General (Viscount Cobham) this evening. Service to local government, welfare and charitable organisations are recognised in the list; and two of New Zealand’s most noted sportsmen, J. R. Reid, captain of the New Zealand cricket team, and P. G. Snell, who has broken several world athletic records, are recognised. The list is as follows:
