TEAMS FORFEIT POINTS

Included OverAge Players Because they played members who were over age last week the Papanui under-16 team and the Old Boys under-15 team have forfeited their competition points. Old Boys beat Suburbs and Papanui drew with Belfast. Suburbs and Belfast protested by letter to the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union last evening. As the offending clubs both admitted the playing of two over-age players, the committee decided to award the competition points to Suburbs and Belfast. The Papanui team also forfeited its three other competition points as one of the two players in question had been a regular member of the team this season. As the team wished to retain the services of the player and to remain together for the rest of the season it asked that the side be moved up to the under-17 grade. After a discussion the committee agreed to this request.
