PROTEST AT TESTS
Demonstration Off (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 10 The New Zealand Campaign of Nuclear Disarmament has called off its proposed demonstration on the arrival of the United States Secretary of State (Mr Rusk' on his arrival at Wellington today The calling off of the protest was primarily because of the Russian statement that the Soviet Union would resume nuclear testing, now that the American test series in the Pacific was under way “It would have been foolish to weaken our protest at the latest crime by continuing our protest at the crime before last—no matter how much we believe the guilt to be shared.” said the national secretary of the campaign (Mr K. R Findlay! in a statement today. "But protest we must. The new chain of bomb-tests adds up to a Russo-American suicide pact, but it involves the end of the world and us as well.”
