BEQUESTS TO CHURCH
Most Of £30,000 Estate Except for private bequests of £3OO, the whole of an estate for which probate has been granted by the Supreme Court at under £31.000 has been left to the Roman Catholic Church and its organisations. The estate is that of the Rev. Father Peter O’Meegan. formerly of Methven, who died at Cromwell on February 13. The will leaves £lOOO to the Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch for the ptomotion of studies for the priesthood. Four bequests of £5OO each are made to the Convent of the Good Shepherd, Mount Magdala, the St. John Veanney Home of Compassion. Timaru. Nazareth House, and the Convent of Mercy Orphanage, Dunedin. Bequests of £2OO each are made to the Carmelite Monastery. Christchurch, and to the Sisters of Mercy in the Christchurch Diocese, and £lOO to the Marist Brothers.
Father O'Meegan left his books equally to the Holy Cross College. Mosgeil, and to the Holy Name Seminary. Christchurch. The remainder of his estate is to be used by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch for the promotion of studies for the priesthood.
