GOLDEN SHEARS
Wider Entries Sought (N.Z. Press Association) MASTERTON. April 16. Entries of shearers from North America and South America, more from Australia and perhaps some from the Soviet Union were envisaged when the Golden Shears committee discussed the 1963 Golden Shears international championships on Friday evening. The 1963 contest will be held In Masterton in the week ending March 2. The Shearing Society president (Mr R. E. Chamberlain) said this morning that inquiries were being opened tn other countries to widen the international character of the fixture Last year Russia had been unable to provide entries for the 1962 championships although it was interested in further developments. It is understood that shearers of high quality operate in some of the wool producing areas of the Soviet Union.
