Pope John yesterday led the Roman Catholic world in the opening ceremonies of Holy Week when he blessed palms in St. Peter’s Bascilica at a solemn ceremony attended by about 15.000 Italians and foreign pilgrims. The Pontiff gave a palm to each of the 10 cardinals attending the ceremony and then led a procession inside the Basilica to commemorate Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

Hovercraft Service. A hovercraft service between Hoylake, Cheshire, and Rhyl, Wales, is expected to start on July 20. It will run until mid-September. There will be six return trips dailytteix days a week. w
