Resistance Of Islanders

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 16 “My contention that the people of Niue Island would be better off in a nuclear war than the res: of us is a good story and I'm sticking ;o it,” Sir Ernest Marsden said tonight. Sir Ernest Marsden, who is at present engaged on special research on radiation, was addressing the Wellington physics branch of the Royal Society of New Zealand. He said that because of the unusually high degree of radiation in Niue Island the people had probably become quite resistant to radiation Consequently they should be better equipped to cope with atomic war than the rest of mankind.
