Basketball TOURNAMENT COMPLETED
Regrading Of Teams The Canterbury Basketball Association’s annual tournament, interrupted by rain the previous week, was completed at South Hagley Park on Saturday when junior teams competed in post-section play. Tournament winners in the various grades were;— Senior. Sacred Heart A: senior reserve Digby’s A: second. South Brighton B; third, Mairehau High A; fourth, Addington A and Sacred Heart J (equal): fifth. South Brighton; sixth, St. Anne’s. .The grading committee completed its report after the afternoon’s games, and these regradings will take effect immediately:— Promotions.—To senior: Sacred Heart B. Third grade to second: Canberra. Mairehau A. Pegasus. C.D L. A Fourth grade to third: Addington A, International Harvester Fifth grade to fourth: Mairima A. St. Peters C. Hoon Hay A. Sacred Heart M. Sixth grade to fifth: Mairima B, Sumner E, Sacred g ea J? P- High M and N. C.D.L. E. and Addington E. Relegations.—To senior reserve: Teacher’s College B penior reserve to second grade: Kakatai B. South Brighton A, St. Mary’s O.G. A, Technical c - S ec J’n <l third grade: LinHigb B. Rangi-ruru B. o. P° rce - South Brighton B. St- Mary’s Old Girls B, and St Nicholas C.
. tO . fou rth grade: Kakatai D and E O’Brien’s, Telegraph, Kia Toa B, and St. Mary’s College D. In view of the Interest and good standard which last year’s senior reserve grade created, it was unanimously decided that the senior reserve grade this year be run on similar tines with 12 teams comprising the grade. After 11 rounds the grade will be divided with the leading six teams competing in section one and the remainder to compete in section two.
