LEIGH CAMP CHAPEL
Dedication Ceremony A new chapel and bunkhouse at Leigh Camp. Loburn. were dedicated yesterday by the chairman of the North Canterbury Methodist District (the Rev. H. G. Brown). The chapel, the former East Eyreton Methodist Church, was given by the Kaiapoi circuit with additional gifts from other churches and individuals. The bunkhouse was built by the Oxford circuit. The doors of the two buildings were officially opened by the vice-president of the Methodist Church of New Zealand (Mr E. A. Humphries). Because of the weather. the rest of the proceedings had been held in the camp hall. The key of the bunkhouse was presented by Mr L. Blackmore (Oxford) to the chairman of the Leigh Camp Trust (Mr J. B. Olds). The key of the chapel was presented to Mr Olds by Mr R. Bennett formerly organist of the East Eyreton Church An outline of the history of the church and how it had come to be the camp chapel was given by Mr W. F Ashe (Ohoka). Others who took part were the Revs. T. Shepherd (Oxford). H. V. Utting (Kaiapoi) and L. V. Willing (chairman of the district education committee).
