Red Cross At Okuku
Twenty-seven yards of material had been made into children’s clothing for the emergency cupboard at the North Canterbury Centre of the Red Cross Society, by members of the Okuku subcentre. sad Mrs J. W Ensnat the annual meeting. A large collect io- of good used clothing had been sent in to •tie centre, garments had been dispatched to Hong Kong, and peggy squares, ditty bags and bedsocks had been made for old persons, Produce had been given for ‘he Good Neighbour Service and for the society's market day.
The following donation l were made during the year: “Operation layette.” 10s: sick and wounded in Malaya £5; milk powder fund. £5: 100 per cent, disabled servicemen. £5: voluntary aid detachment. £5; emergency cupboard, £5; Burwood Hospital and Rannerdale Home £2: disaster relief fund, £5 Officers elected were: President. Mrs J. W. Ensor; secetary. Mrs W. D. Laing: treasurer. Mrs P. Newton: vice-presidents. Mesdames S Warbrick and J. Lundv.
