Knight qualified tor hurdle races by schooling competently over four hurdles at Riccarton yesterday He was ridden by K. Quayle. Knight, one of the most successful hacks at the Greymouth meeting last week-end. may race over hurdles at the Canterbury Jockey Club's autumn meeting

Sports Date, a winner over : hurdles when owned and [trained in Southland, is also ■being prepared for another [jumping campaign Yesterday. with E. B Skelton up, he did a safe, clean round of hurdles.

Sports Date has not raced since November, but he looks as if he will come to hand quickly
