NEW LIGHTED GROUND

B.H.S. Old Boys At School

The High Schoo! Old Bovs’ Rugby Football Club has been authorised by the Christchurch Boys’ High School board of governors to install lighting on a south-west ground at the school for evening practices.

The club proposes to use tapered poles, which can be dismantled and stored easily cut of season. They will be linked by underground wiring. The club will bear the full cost. Members were keen to maintain their close association with the school, the club said, and they would be happy to accept the directions of the headmaster on the use of the ground. The headmaster <Mr C. F. S. Caldwell) said the club’s proposals were all acceptable, but he wondered whether the Rugby club should be given exclusive use of the ground. Old boys’ clubs in other sports might seek the same privileges. Board members said that since the Rugby club was bearing the full cost of lighting, it should have first call on the ground. Other clubs might be granted access by arrangement with the Rugby club.
