AIRPORT DUES
Inquiry Into Levy System

INVERCARGILL, April 5. A Government-appointed committee to inquire into the system of levying airport and airways dues was announced today by the Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr McAlpine). The chairman of the committee, which will begin its investigations soon, will be Mr E. D. Wilkinson, an Auckland public accountant and a member of the Monetary and Economic Council. Two representatives of the Aviation Industry Association will be Messrs L. L. Ford, deputy-general manager of the National Airways Corporation. and D. P. Lynskey, general manager of Straits Air-freight Express. Ltd. Mr A. M. P. Hall. Town Clerk, of Palmerston North, and Mr A. I. R. Jamieson, airport manager at Christchurch Airport, will represent the Municipal Association, Civil Aviation Administration members on the committee will be Messrs R. F Wakefield and W A. Burrows.
Mr McAlpine said the committee had been formed after representations from the Aviation Industry and the Municipal Association.
It would investigate what changes, if any. were justified in present methods of charging and collecting airport and airway dues.
