The import allocation for racing cars until June 30, 1962. has been fully used, and no further applications can be considered until the amount of the new allocation is known in July, says the latest ssue of the New Zealand Racing Drivers’ Club newsletter. The allocation is controlled by a committee known as the Racing Automobile Imports Advisory Committee, which consists of two representatives each from the Association of New Zealand Car Clubs, the New Zealand International Grand Prix, and the New Zealand Racing Drivers’ Club. Applications are made by prospective importers through whichever body they are members of.

The Mille Miglia will not be held this year, but will probably be held again in 1963 as a speed event.

* * ¥ The Rallies and Trials Enthusiasts Club’s novices' rally last week-end was won by A. Petre (Prefect), with D. Parris and P. Gregory as crew. T. J. Coleman (Vauxhall) was second, B. Cowell (Morris) third, A. G. Sutton ‘Hillman) fourth, and N. R. Grim wood (Vanguard' fifth. The points lost were 2.7, 37.9. 41.2. 94.9 and 115.1. The club plans to hold a similar rally on May 13.

A Volkswagen Owners' Club gymkhana was held recently on a farm property at Dunsandel. 11 members driving five different makes of car. Major place-getters were: Accelerating and braking, M. Maze; forward wigglewoggle, J Caukwell; reverse wiggle-woggle, R. Barker; sack race, M. Maze and Miss C. Spencer, equal; sputnik, Miss C. Spencer: potato race. M. Maze. The over-all winner of the day’s events was Maze, with Barker second and Caukwell third. The best woman driver was Miss Spencer. ¥ ¥ ¥
