NEW TYPE OF RUBBER

An entirely new synthetic rubber which is claimed to increase tyre abrasion resistance and ensure higher mileage has been developed by scientists of the Firestone organisation Known as Diene, the new material closely resembles natural rubber but has greater resilience and is more resistant to heat and abrasion. It has a very low freezing point of minus 120 degrees. which permits it to retain flexibility at very low temperatures Already Tried The rubber has already been used in snow tyres in the United States with success and has also been incorporated in truck tyres to reduce heat build-up. Diene is said to blend easily with both natural rubber and other types of synthetic rubber, and when blended is claimed to improve them
