PACIFIC WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION
Friendship League
Joined
The Christchurch area group of the Pan Pacific and South-east Asia Women’s Association decided at a meeting last evening to join the International Friendship League as a group. The secretary (Mrs M Evans) said that the Immigration Department would soon let the branch see a list of names of overseas students coming to New Zealand. This would enable members to extend more hospitality to visiting students, she said. Students and guests from Indonesia, Malaya, and Pennsylvania attended last evening’s meeting. They were introduced by the president (Miss Mary McLean). Mrs G. Cree gave a report on a meeting of the Freedom From Hunger Campaign. Mrs Jessie Hosking sang a bracket of songs, accompanied by Mrs W. E. Olds.
