MINOR FIRES
Five Calls To Brigade
Petrol fumes ignited by a spark from a welding torch caused a fire at the premises of Whiting and Waltho. motor - cycle dealers, 266 Cashel street, about 4 p.m. yesterday. A motor - scooter was damaged and the building was slightly damaged. Two units from the central station attended!
A motor-cycle was fairly severely damaged when it caught alight on the corner of Bealey avenue and Victoria street about 6.30 p.m. It belonged to Mr R. J. Baxter, of 20 Wilton crescent. One unit from the central station answered the call.
A refrigerator motor was slightly damaged when it overheated and caught alight in a butchery at 92 Cashel street about 8 p.m. The call was answered by two engines and the turntable ladder unit from the central station. One unit from the St. Albans sub-station answered a call to an oven fire at 30 Aorangi road, the property of Mr A. Tomlinson, about 4.15 p.m. No damage occurred. An oven fire at 9.37 a.m. at 25 Rirnu street, the property of Mr M. Jarden, caused no damage. It was attended by -one unit from Woolston.
Mr W. W. Clough.—lt is regretted that in an obituary notice of Mr W. W. Clough, printed in “The Press” yesterday morning, it was reported that he was survived by his wife, two sons and a sister. Mr Clough is also survived by a daughter.
