No Appeal For Migrants

(N .Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, March 20. The House of Lords last night . rejected by 55 votes to 30 a proposal for a right of appeal by intending Commonwealth immigrants against an adverse decision by an immigration officer.

The House was discussing the new bill to control Commonwealth immigration into Britain. It is expected to become law by Easter. The Deputy Leader of the Labour peers (Lord Silkin) proposed that an appeals tribunal should have the last word, not the immigration officer.
