Shortage Of Bird Seed

Sir,—Because of the shortage of canary seed people are letting their birds out, only to die. People who have canaries can feed their birds on the first (finest) “chick grain" that is fed to baby chicks at 6d per lb., with greens, seed heads of thistle and marigolds—in fact, mast seed heads. They eat only what is good for them. With a little bird seed mixed with it, they do quite well—Yours, etc, A LOVER OF BIRDS. March 21, 1962.
