RETIREMENT HONOURS
Reception For Mrs Johnson Council members of the Christchurch Free Kindergarten Association held a morning reception recently to honour the president (Mrs A. F. Johnson) who has retired from office. Mrs Johnson will leave for a visit to England next month.
The acting-chairman (Mrs w. A. Anderson) presented Mrs Johnson with a mohair travelling rug and Mrs H. Adams presented her with flowers.
Many tributes were paid to the outstanding service Mrs Johnson has given to the kindergarten movement throughout New Zealand, and particularly in Christchurch, in nearly 20 years of untiring work.
Guests at the reception, held at Heatherlea, included the patron at the association (Mrs A. K. Hadfield), and past and present members of the council who had worked with Mrs Johnson.
Delegates from Christchurch kindergartens presented Mrs Johnson with a marcasite watch and the association’s staff presented her with a handbag at other recent functions.
