Conference Of Butchers
Butchers from 18 districts throughout the Dominion are attending the annual conference of the Meat Retailers’ Federation, which was opened in Christchurch yesterday by the Secretary of Industries and Commerce (Dr W B Sutch). The federation held Its annual meeting yesterday. Today there will be a meeting of the Meat Retailers’ Industrial Association of Employers. At yesterday’s meeting the following officers were elected: president, Mr A. J. Burr (Blenheim); senior vicepresident. Mr E R. Blandford (Christchurch); junior vice-president. Mr G. A. Bannan (Wellington); immediate pastoresident, Mr H. S Wallis (Christchurch). Twister. Miss Martha Watene, an 18-year-old girl who twiated for 41 i hours in a Gisborne coffee lounge ended her gyrating at 1.45 pjn. on Sunday suffering from a stiff leg.
