Horse Jumping CLEAN SWEEP BY AUSTRALIANS
Spectacular Jumping ( N.Z. Press Association) WANGANUI, March 8. ‘Steady rain which made the surface of Memorial Park heavy and slippery, did not prevent members of the Australian show-jumping team from giving an outstanding display at Taihape tonight. The Australians won all the events, the most successful riders being K. Bacon and Miss M. Combs. The most spectacular event was the six-bar competition in which Bacon, on Ocean Foam, jumped sft Sin in atrocious conditions to beat Miss Combs on Pleasure. Results were:—
Fault and Out.—J. Moss (Australia) on Our Chief, 1; Miss M. Combs (Australia) on Pleasure. 2; K. Bacon (Australia) on Kimberley. 3. Improver Horse—Miss J Laird on Biltong. 1; G. Smith on Gamble, 2; Miss S. Th ackwell’s entry, 3: Mrs C. Gordon’s Cindy. 4. Six - bar Competition.—K. Bacon on Ocean Form, 1: Miss M. Combs on Pleasure. 2; K. Bacon on Kimberley, 3. Team event: Australia 1. Talhape A 2. Hunterville B 3, South Canterbury 4.
