Westfield’s Fast Time (N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. March 8. P. Westfield (Wellington) was a surprise winner of the New Zealand 20-kilometre road walking championship tonight by 14sec from A. Lloyd (West Coast, Northland) and M. Hinton (Auckland). Westfield's time of Ihr 35min 39sec was nearly 9min better than N. R. Read’s winning time last year. Competitors bad to battle against strong head winds and driving rain over the second half of the race. Result.—P. Westfield (Wellington) 1:35.36 1. A. Lloyd (West Coast, North Island) 135.53 2. M.
