March 7 Chief Fire Officer L R Osmond, of Christchurch, was installed as president of the United Fire Brigades’ Association at the annual conference in Westport today. There was an election for ’.he two positions of vicepresident. Fireman P. Habib (Spit. Napier) being returned as senior vice-president and Chief Officer G W. Grey (Marton) as junior vicepresiident. Chief Officer G D Cochrane, of Queenstown was the o'her nominee. The retiring president. Chief Officer C A Nightingale (Oamaru) was elected an honorary life member of the association These officers. with the secretarytreasurer. Third Officer H L Warner, of Hawera, and Chief Officer N. G. Buick (Palmerston North) comprise the executive.
