CAR STRIKES BARRIER

The wooden barrier arm at the Riccarton road railway crossing was broken from its mounting about 8.30 p.m. yesterday when a car travelling east struck the barrier as it was descending. The driver of the car, Christopher Panayiotis. aged 20. a motor mechanic, crossed the lines after the accident before stopping. He was not injured, and his car received only minor damage.
