NEW OIL STRIKE
“Twice As Good As Moonie I”
< N .Z.PA .’Reuter—Copyright) BRISBANE, March 5.
Queensland’s Moonie No. 2 well has struck oil again. 125 feet below its big strike last Wednesday. Oil authorities described the new strike as “twice as good” as the first Moonie strike last December. Union Oil's resident Australian manager (Mr Doyle T. Graves) announced at Toowoomba. Queensland, that the new' strike was between 5890 ft and 5900 ft depth. The first Moonie No. 2 strike was at the 5651 ft to 5674 ft level. A significant feature of the strike is that no drill stem test will be made of the discovery at the moment. This adds weight to the belief that the Moonie No. 2 well is not an exploratory well as such, but a “production well’’ aimed at discovering the extent of the field discovered in the Moonie No. 1 strike.
