PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS
Yesterday’s Games Abandoned Because of rain, yesterday’s scheduled matches by J Kramer’s professional tennis troupe were transferred from Wilding Park to indoor courts Both Canterbury Court and Cowles Stadium were available but as the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association was faced with the difficulty of getting an announcement to the public of the change of venue, the matches had to be abandoned, the chairman of the association (Mr G E R. Atkinson) said yesterday.
At Wilding Park this afternoon. K Rosewall will play L. Ayala and A. Gimeno will meet F Sedgeman which will be followed by one game of doubles. The winners and losers of the singles will play each other at Canterbury Court in the evening
Mr Atkinson said that Wilding Park court would be all right for today's games "The courts have been verydry and the water should get away quickly." he said. The visiting players were keen to play indoors when it was announced early yesterday morning that Wilding Park would not be available and were disappointed to learn later that they could not play at all. "They were really kicking their heete." said Mr Atkinson.
