Rifle Shooting SMALL ARMS EVENT
Collins Leads Qualifiers ( N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 21. Staff Sergeant G. Collins (Trentham) led the qualifiers for the Queen’s Medal at the Combined Services’ Small Arms Association championship meeting today The 50 qualifiers comprise 20 Army. 20 Air Force, and 10 Navy competitors. Today’s highlight was a photo-finish in the Navy Cup team match. Central Military District A and Hobsonville scored 722 points and Southern Military District 721 Central won on a count-back with 96 bulls. The inter-services team match for the Colvin Cup resulted in a win for Army with 770 points. The Air Force was second with 680 and the Navy third with 594.
Results were:— Army Cup (teams match).— Ohakea “A, 364. 1; Southern Military District No. 1, 347. t-. Ngaruawahia, 342, 3. Standard Press Cup (highest aggregate score in match 7). Flight-Sergeant T. F. Langley (R.N.Z.A.F.). Auckland Cup.—Lieutenant J. S. Wooster (Army). Southland Cup.—Sergeant I. R. Larsen (Army). R.NZ.A.F. Rosebow!.—Ohakea, 343 points. 1; Woodbourne "A," 2SB. X
