Meeting
The National Party candidate for the Waitaki seat, Mr A. D Dick, opened bis by-election campaign with a brief speech to a meeting of 150 persons at Pleasant Point last evening. It wes a quiet and orderly meeting Mr Dick said that he would only give headlines of his policy which he would develop at 28 later meetings in the dectorate.
“My policy is the advancement and development ot the electorate by following the principles of freedom of choice, private ownership, and competitive enterprise." said Mr Dick. He claimed “more than a passing knowledge of problems of businessmen.” a knowledge of town planning, and said that he was conversant with the problems of the farming community ‘‘l well realise I have to make myself known in this part of the electorate; but I am to represent al) people of this electorate, not any particular group or section.” he sa'd
