DETAINED IN ANKARA
Former Govt. Member (N.Z.P.A .-Reuter—Copyright) ANKARA, February 15 Another member of the former Turkish Government, headed by the executed Premier. Mr Adnan Menderes. has been detained in Ankara on charges of misusing authority while in office, it was announced last evening The former Minister, Arif Demirer, was arrested yesterday. Similar charges were made against two other former Ministers detained on Tuesday.
The assistant DirectorGeneral of the General Central Bank, Fikri Diker, the assistant Director-General of the Land Production Office. Necmi Celik, and a former deputy councillor in the Trade Ministry, Celaleddin Abanazoglu, were also held yesterday on the same charge The Associated Press said the former President, Celal Bayar. was taken from gaol at Kayseri, in Central Turkey, during the night to an Ankara hospital for treatment for an intestinal ailment.
The 78-year-old Bayar is serving a life sentence imposed last September by the Revolutionary Court, which tried leaders of the Menderes Government.
