Obituary MISS K. J. LEE
The death occurred recently in Christchurch after a long illness of Miss Katherine Joan Lee, granddaughter of the late Mr Joseph Palmer, manager of the first bank in Christchurch. Miss Lee’s wide interests ranged from active membership of the Canterbury Society of Arts and of Crockford’s Club to the support and encouragement of social and welfare work, especially for the Christchurch Hospital For 14 years Miss Lee was honorary secretary of the Hospital Lady Visitors' Association and took a leading part in reorganising library facilities for patients and arranging for convalescent care She was a regular member of a group begun by Miss T West-Watson during the war to provide homespun and hand-knitted articles for servicemen and continued aubseouently for CORSO. A well-known and faithful narishioner of St. Mary’s, Merivale. she was a member of the Sanctuary Guild and took her share in church work in the parish. Another group to which she gave her interest and help was Mrs E J Cordner’s sewing circle for eh : >dren’s homes.
Her many friends will remember not only her personal generosity and kindness but also her alert sense of humour and her warm and wholehearted interest in*life.
