Council To Buy Water Truck
A water truck suitable for use for road construction work and as a rural fire tender will be purchased by the Ha’swell County Council The purchase of the vehicle for £4OO. subject to the replacement by ’he vendor of the present 200 ga’lon tank with a 600 gallon tank, was approved by the council yesterday
The council did not propose to set up a formal rural fire-fishting unit because of the administrative diffi'ultins. said the chairman. Cr. H. Cox The truck would be available for fire-fighting when required. In replv to a letter from the Fire Service Council, the council decided to support a proposal to form a fire brigade at Lincoln to serve the area
The resignation of the chief fire officer. Mr J Watling, was accepted
Because recent rain had lessened the risk of fire in danger areas, the council decided to remove the fire restrictions.
