The United Narons has told the President of Katanga (Mr Moise Tshombe) that United Nations forces must be allowed to enter the cities ol Jadotville and Kolwezi to make sure he carries out his promise to expel mercenaries from his breakaway province.

The United Nations officer in charge of the Congo command (Mr Sture Linneri said this week he had notified Mr Tshombe that it was essential that United Nations forces be allowed "absolute freedom of movement’’ in these cities. Associated Press reported. At present United Nations forces in Katanga are located mainly in the capital Elisa bethville.

Mr Linner urged Mr Tshombe to make a “cleai statement” to his people that United Nations forces were to be permitted to enter Jadotville and Kolwezi. This would be “clear evidence of your good will and of the co-operation in maintaining order in paving the way toward a peaceful solu•ion of Katanga's problems,” he said
