ATHLETICS Canterbury Girl Just Outside N.Z. Record

NAPIER, Feb. 14. Miss Chamberlain (Canterbury) failed by I.6sec to equal her New Zealand women's 880 yards record in an athletics meeting at Napier ton.ighit.

It was unfortunate that she was not pushed, for the New Zealand, and possibly the world records might have toppled. At the end of the first lap Miss Chamberlain led by 15 yards from Miss J. Stapleton (New South Wales) and was 35 yards clear of the Australian at the finish. Another near miss came in the women’s high jump in which Miss R. Woodhouse (Australia) just failed to equal the New Zealand record of sft 7 J in. At her last attempt Miss Woodhouse just touched the bar. The New Zealand recordholder, Miss Mclntosh (Auckland), scored a good win in the women’s 80 metres hurdles over the New South Wales pair, Misses R. Scott and H. Frith. Results were:—
